weekend dog and garden blogging

inspired by my experience with the crop share and the urban homestead folks in pasadena, i decided to try my hand at some container gardening up on my rooftop/patio/balcony area. my patio was recently re-roofed, thanks to some skillful handyman and general contractor services , courtesy of my pa, which means i actually want to go up there again. so, in late february, i got me a copy of the bountiful container and started reading and planning. a few weeks later, i started planting. i thought i would start from seeds for a lot of things (except tomatoes) and after a few weeks of watering dirt and watching nothing come up, i gave that up and bought some seedlings for most of the rest of the plants. i've since learned to sprout seedlings on my kitchen window sill, which has been helpful.

at present, my little container garden is growing well. the edible portions include: tomatoes (salad size red and lemon boy); cucumbers; thai bird chilis; jalapeno peppers; nasturtium; lettuce; green garlic; green onions; chives; oregano; mint; thyme; basil; tarragon; sage; and rosemary.

Weekend Dog Blogging: A trip to Spa Buddy

Last year lil bird and her husband, big bird took a vacation and the lil dogs came to Camp Buddy. This March the doggies decided on a spa vacation so all of them are off to get their nails and fur trimmed.

They didn't have to go far our great groomer, Sheri has a traveling pet grooming van that parks in the front and we hustle the dogs in and out. So easy and less traumatic for the pups. It only takes about an hour a dog and at the the other groomer the poor animals had to hang around in a cage. These are free-range poochies to be sure so this works great for all involved. Well, maybe not Sheri, she did look a bit pooped and wet after Buddy jumped out of the tub.

this was actually taken quite a while ago. right now, the furry little beasts are in no fit state for pictures...they need a haircut. they actually look like miniature english sheepdogs!

i haven't posted a weekend dog blogging a while. heck, i haven't posted on pbe at all in a while. chalk it up to being busy celebrating the ucla bruins' upset victory over our crosstown rivals, u$c...or, as we like to call it, fairfax high. check out a celebratory photo of four very happy bruins in front of the scoreboard here.

anyway, here's a cute little snap that mooncrazy and doodles took of my pup multy when they visited over the summer. i'm not sure if they put multy in the basket for the picture or if he just hopped right on in there hisownself (which is actually quite likely). either way, it's cute and since multy has not been feeling well recently (ear infection), i thought i'd put this up and ask people to send some good vibes his way...
